Description

Get an introduction to the world of Pharmacology with this intensive, four-course MicroDiploma designed to acquaint students with some of the knowledge required to become a pharmaceutical assistant. Learn the importance of ethics in the medical field concerning a patient’s privacy and medical information. Students also study the human body, how the different components of our physical makeup interact with each other, and how they depend on each other to function correctly. Lastly, there is the science of drugs and their positive and negative effects on the body.

Program Courses

  • Health & Ethics

    This course provides students with coverage of health, ethics and privacy in today’s pharmacies. Related topics include HIA, FOIP and Ethics from the Alberta College of Pharmacists.

  • Anatomy & Physiology

    Gain a fundamental understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the human body. Students will explore topics such as structure, function, and terminology. Students will learn to describe the anatomy of systems such as the digestive, musculoskeletal, and cardiovascular systems.

  • Pharmacology 1

    Explore the basic concepts and principles of pharmacology. You will learn drug classes related to specific body systems (e.g., nervous, musculoskeletal) and therapeutic uses (e.g., antihypertensives, anticoagulants). From this course, you will understand mechanisms of action, therapeutic effects, clinical uses, adverse reactions, and interactions of each drug class.

  • Pharmacology 2

    You will apply the basic pharmacologic concepts and principles from the first course and explore drug classes related to specific body systems (e.g., respiratory, endocrine) and therapeutic uses (e.g., antibacterial, antifungal, antiseptics). Understand the mechanisms of action, therapeutic effects, clinical uses, adverse reactions, and interactions of each drug class.

    To enroll in a microdiploma, visit the page for the specific microdiploma and click the “Enroll Now” button. You will be directed to the payment page. 

    Review your enrollment summary, enter your email address and payment details, and click submit. 

    Once your payment is confirmed, you will receive a confirmation email along with the credentials to access the online platform at mysundancecollege.ca

  • What will I receive once I successfully complete a MicroDiploma?

    Upon successful completion of each MicroDiploma, you will receive a MicroDiploma and a Certificate of Achievement for each course within the MicroDiploma.

  • What happens if I don’t complete all the required courses for a MicroDiploma?

    You will receive Certificates of Achievement for each course you successfully complete, but you will not earn the MicroDiploma unless you complete all required courses.

  • What is the difference between Microdiplomas and Courses?

    Microdiplomas are intended for students who want to upgrade their skills or get a comprehensive education in a new subject. They are comprised of 2-4 courses. 

    Courses focus on specific subjects, offering students the flexibility to gain targeted knowledge without committing to a full program. They are ideal for professionals seeking to enhance particular skills or for individuals interested in exploring a single area of study in depth.
