Description

Take an intensive look at the complex and essential world of Pharmacy Procedures. This four-course MicroDiploma covers preparing prescription drugs for distribution in both public and institutional settings. Learn how to prepare pharmaceutical dosages and accurately and tailor doses to specific individuals as prescribed by their physician.

Program Courses

  • Community Pharmacy Procedures

    Community Pharmacy Procedures provides students with an overview of the community health care system. Students will learn about community pharmacy procedures such as current technology, monitoring, and drug administration. Quality assurance will be emphasized throughout this course.

  • Institutional Pharmacy Procedures

    In Institutional Pharmacy Procedures, students will gain an understanding of pharmacy procedures in a hospital. Students will work hands-on to demonstrate their understanding of filling, dispensing, preparing and labeling the various types of prescription drugs. The importance of sterilization and infection control will also be examined throughout this course.

  • Pharmacy Calculations

    Develop essential pharmacy math calculation skills that are used in both community and institutional pharmacy practice. Different types of calculations will be introduced such as how to interpret medication dose, ratio-proportion methods, conversions, and abbreviations.

  • Compounding

    Explore the importance of pharmacy compounding policies and procedures. Students will apply their knowledge of formulations and techniques to perform critical dosage and compounding calculations. Topics of interest include weighing, leveling, trituration, and geometric dilution.

    To enroll in a microdiploma, visit the page for the specific microdiploma and click the “Enroll Now” button. You will be directed to the payment page. 

    Review your enrollment summary, enter your email address and payment details, and click submit. 

    Once your payment is confirmed, you will receive a confirmation email along with the credentials to access the online platform at mysundancecollege.ca

  • What will I receive once I successfully complete a MicroDiploma?

    Upon successful completion of each MicroDiploma, you will receive a MicroDiploma and a Certificate of Achievement for each course within the MicroDiploma.

  • What happens if I don’t complete all the required courses for a MicroDiploma?

    You will receive Certificates of Achievement for each course you successfully complete, but you will not earn the MicroDiploma unless you complete all required courses.

  • What is the difference between Microdiplomas and Courses?

    Microdiplomas are intended for students who want to upgrade their skills or get a comprehensive education in a new subject. They are comprised of 2-4 courses. 

    Courses focus on specific subjects, offering students the flexibility to gain targeted knowledge without committing to a full program. They are ideal for professionals seeking to enhance particular skills or for individuals interested in exploring a single area of study in depth.
