Description

Learn the importance of family support in addiction treatment and recovery and the different approaches and strategies for engaging families in the treatment process. Discover how to develop effective treatment plans that integrate family support into the overall treatment process, the different models of integrated treatment and how to develop plans tailored to the unique needs of each individual and their family. Students also learn the importance of collaboration and communication between treatment providers and family members and the role of family support in interventions and relapse prevention. Explore different intervention models and learn how to develop effective intervention strategies that involve family members.

  • Family Dynamics

    Explore the risks and resilience of diverse family groups. The course introduces the family system as both a microsystem and a homeostatic system, helping you develop techniques for analyzing unhealthy family dynamics.

    You will learn both conceptual and practical information on key issues and problems, preparing you to work with at-risk youth in families. Evaluate family roles, substance use disorders in the family, and learn family therapy techniques.

  • Intake Procedures & Treatment Planning

    You will learn topics and processes related to intake, assessment, and factors affecting case management services. Practicing intake and assessment skills through role playing, feedback, and hands-on exercises will prepare you to effectively manage and support clients in your future career, ensuring they receive the best possible care and treatment.

  • Relapse Prevention & Intervention

    Explore the Relapse Prevention (RP) model to understand the conceptual and clinical features of the RP approach to altering excessive or addictive behaviour patterns.

    Students will: analyze specific intervention techniques for both proactive and reactive intervention; learn about the importance of abstinence and opioid substitution programs; and explore other problems encountered in substance abuse rehabilitation. These skills will prepare you to effectively support clients in maintaining long-term recovery.

    Review your enrollment summary, enter your email address and payment details, and click submit. 

    Once your payment is confirmed, you will receive a confirmation email along with the credentials to access the online platform at mysundancecollege.ca

  • What will I receive once I successfully complete a MicroDiploma?

    Upon successful completion of each MicroDiploma, you will receive a MicroDiploma and a Certificate of Achievement for each course within the MicroDiploma.

  • What happens if I don’t complete all the required courses for a MicroDiploma?

    You will receive Certificates of Achievement for each course you successfully complete, but you will not earn the MicroDiploma unless you complete all required courses.

  • What is the difference between Microdiplomas and Courses?

    Microdiplomas are intended for students who want to upgrade their skills or get a comprehensive education in a new subject. They are comprised of 2-4 courses. 

    Courses focus on specific subjects, offering students the flexibility to gain targeted knowledge without committing to a full program. They are ideal for professionals seeking to enhance particular skills or for individuals interested in exploring a single area of study in depth.
